How does tattoo removal work?

Short pulses of high powered laser light are absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, breaking them down into smaller particles, enabling your natural immune defences to absorb and disperse of the ink leading to a gradual fade of the ink over time.

How is the treatment carried out?

On clean skin the laser applicator is passed over the tattoo releasing quick short pulses of light. You may hear a clicking noise as the ink particles shatter. After treatment, a soothing lotion and a light dressing will be applied.

How does the treatment feel?

The treatment is mildly uncomfortable but tolerable. Tattoo removal has been compared to the flick of an elastic band or a hot pin prick.

How does the skin look after treatment?

You can expect to see some some swelling and redness for the 48hrs which follow. Some tattoos will form a graze which must be left to heal naturally. The tattoo won't be visibly different until 4 - 6 weeks later once the ink starts to disperse in the body.

Are there any side effects?

A change to skin texture and scarring is possible, though uncommon.

How many treatments are necessary?

Everyone is different, depending on the tattoo and the skin, we recommend anywhere from 3 - 15 treatments.

How long does each treatment take?

Depending on the size of the tattoo anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.

What is the consultation procedure?

The consultation is to understand a service plan for your successful tattoo removal.

A patch test will also be required.
